I started my working life as an apprentice electrician in 1976 with E.J Stiell, a Lanarkshire engineering business, where I progressed through the ranks and in 1995 became Managing Director of the company and led an MBO.
Over the next seven years, I led the transformation of the business into Stiell Facilities, the leading independent facilities management business in the UK. By 2002, Stiell had sales of over £120m and employed around 1200 people. |

At this point, Stiell was acquired by Alfred McAlpine and I became managing director of their business services division and transformed it into a £300m operation with 2500 employees. I left McAlpine in 2005 to return to the private company sector and joined ASCO in 2006.
At ASCO I am focused on developing the company’s position as the world’s leading oil and gas logistics provider to ensure that we continue to be able to deliver more to our clients around the world.

| A Chartered Accountant, I have been with ASCO for seven years, initially as Group Financial Controller and latterly as Finance Director. After an early professional career with Ernst and Young, I joined the Sidlaw Group in 1990 and became Group Chief Accountant in 1994, before leaving to join ASCO in 1999. |

After an early career in marketing and consultancy, I joined Billy Allan at Stiell in 1996.
As Stiell's Strategic Development Director, I was responsible for transforming the company's service range, steering its growth into new markets and building a brand which became the hallmark for service excellence in UK facilities management.

Soon after Alfred McAlpine's purchase of Stiell in 2002, I took on the role of Group Strategy and Communications Director. I left McAlpine in 2005 to return to the private company sector and joined ASCO in 2006.
As Group Service and Organisation Development Director, Bill is responsible for bringing together the key support functions for ASCO Group and ensuring they meet the needs of the business. Group Service functions include HR, Organisation Development, Communications, Information Technology and HSEQ.

I started as an apprentice in 1982 with E.J. Stiell and progressed through the business fulfilling a number of key roles and was pivotal in the transformation of the company. I was appointed to the board in 2000 as UK Operations Director where I successfully led the service delivery and business change management aspects of their out-sourced support services contracts.

Following the acquisition of Stiell by Alfred McAlpine plc in 2002, I was appointed Divisional Managing Director and in 2005 Executive Director before leaving in 2007 to join ASCO.
At ASCO my role focuses on the development of our operational and commercial performance across the Group.
I am a chartered Director with a broad business knowledge underpinned by an MBA qualification.
