Mike Salter – Non-Executive Chairman

Mike served as Vice President/General Manager for all UK and European operations for Bawden Drilling (UK) Ltd in the 1980s. From 1990 to 1995, he was Chief Executive in the UK for Smedvig Limited before joining Abbot Group plc, initially as Development Director, but was later appointed Chief Operating Officer in 1997. |
After retiring as a Director and Main Board member of Abbot Group at the end of July 2007 he remained on board in a part time capacity as Chairman of Bentec – the Group’s land rig building company based in Germany. He also holds a number of other non executive and advisory roles including Chairman of Ferguson Modular Ltd, Red Spider Technology Ltd, CQS Rig Finance Fund and as President of the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce.
Mike took on the role of Non-Executive Chairman of ASCO in 2008 and is delighted to be a part of it. ASCO is a growing global company that is committed to delivering more to their clients and people, both internally and externally.
Billy Allan – Chief Executive

Billy Allan started his working life as an apprentice electrician in
1976 with E.J Stiell, a Lanarkshire engineering business. He
progressed through the ranks and in 1995 he became managing director
of the company. |
Over the next seven years he led the transformation of the business
into Stiell Facilities, the leading independent facilities management
business in the UK. By 2002, Stiell had sales of over £120m and
employed around 1200 people. At that point Alfred McAlpine stepped in
and bought the business. Billy then became managing director of
McAlpine’s business services division, which he built into a £300m
operation with 2500 employees. He left McAlpine in 2005 to return to
the private company sector.
Billy is married and has two young children and outside work his main
interests are skiing and shooting.
Ian Ross – Finance Director

A Chartered Accountant, Ian has been with ASCO for seven years,
mainly in the role of Group Financial Controller. After an early
professional career with Ernst and Young, Ian joined the Sidlaw Group
in 1990 and became group chief accountant in 1994, before leaving to
join ASCO in 1999. |
Ian is married with two daughters and when he’s away from the office
his main interests are worrying about his two daughters and golf.
Bill Loch – Strategic Development Director

After an early career in marketing roles, Bill joined Billy Allan at Stiell in 1996. As Stiell's business development director he was responsible for transforming the company's service range, steering the company's growth into new markets, and building a brand which became the hallmark for service excellence in UK facilities management. |
Soon after Alfred McAlpine's purchase of Stiell in 2002, Bill became strategy and communications director at McAlpine. He left McAlpine in 2005 to return to the private company sector.
Bill is married and cycling and travel are his main leisure pursuits
Derek Smith - Operations Director

Derek started as an apprentice in 1982 with E.J. Stiell. He progressed through the business fulfilling a number of key roles and was pivotal in the transformation of the company. He was appointed to the board in 2000 as UK Operations Director where he successfully led the service delivery and business change management aspects of their out-sourced support services contracts. |
Following the acquisition of Stiell by Alfred McAlpine plc in 2002 he was appointed Divisional Managing Director and in 2005 Executive Director before leaving in 2007 to join ASCO.
He is a chartered Director with a broad business knowledge underpinned by an MBA qualification.
Derek is married with three sons and in his spare time takes part in a range of sports including shooting and golf. He also enjoys spending time with his young family and supporting them in their pursuit of sport.
Rodney Lenthall – Non Executive Director

Rodney is a Master Mariner with a lifetime’s experience in the
marine, energy and transport industries. He joined the Ocean Group
PLC in 1974 as a Mate of offshore supply vessels in its subsidiary
OIL, thereafter progressing to CEO of its marine division and a main
board director. |
Since leaving ocean in 1998, Rodney has held a number
of advisory and non-executive positions in the offshore,
shipbuilding, communications and insurance Industries. He is a Non
Executive Director of Globe Wireless, San Francisco; Viking Supply
Ships, Oslo; and Chairman of The Shipowners P&I Club, Luxembourg.
Rodney is married with three children and his prime outside interest
is sailing.
Richard Daw – Non-Executive Director

Richard Daw joined Phoenix Equity Partners in 2001. Richard spent
eight years in the corporate finance group of Dresdner Kleinwort
Benson before gaining an MBA at INSEAD. He subsequently spent three
years at British Airways. |
Richard leads Phoenix's business services, transport & logistics sector investment activity. In addition to
being a non-executive director of ASCO, he is also a director of
Palletways, of NFT Distribution, and of Vivid Toys and Games.
Richard is married, with three young children.
Jim Cooper
 |
Jim is one of Scotland’s best known and respected non-executive directors.
During his career, Jim has held senior executive roles in a number of companies including GE, Howden, John Wood Group plc and Rubicon Group plc.

Since 1998 he has held non-executive roles in a diverse range of organisations involved in manufacturing, business and industrial services, financial services and economic development.
Jim is married and lives in Lanarkshire Scotland.
Hugh Lenon

Hugh Lenon qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross before spending 14 years as a private equity principal in the UK and then co-founding Phoenix in 2001. Hugh is Chairman of Phoenix's Investment Committee, a Director of Nationwide Autocentres, and of ASCO. |
