NORM

24/7 NORM solutions for you

NORM Solutions is a wholly owned part of the ASCO family, specialising in the receipt and decontamination of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM). We operate from a purpose built, state-of-the-art facility in Aberdeen which is capable of handling all types of NORM contaminated equipment, solids, sludges and liquids produced by the UK oil and gas industry.

By using Ultra High Pressure jetting equipment, our automated systems are able to decontaminate items that would normally require the use of chemicals or additional abrasives, both of which result in higher disposal and transportation costs.

Training and Compliance

Keeping you compliant

Our team is certified to deliver the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) Waste Smart courses which keep you up to date with current legislation and best practice in a rapidly changing industry. Our in-house trainers can deliver these courses both onshore and offshore.

Our team can also carry out onshore and offshore waste audits which are designed to improve compliance significantly and have aided the recertification of ISO14001 for many of our customers. The audits identify areas for improvement, areas of non-compliance with relevant regulations and areas where continuous improvement initiatives could be introduced. It is recommended that audits are carried out on a regular basis to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are met.

Produced Water

Produced water is the largest waste stream associated with the recovery of oil and gas and can be contaminated with hydrocarbons, other chemicals (e.g. methanol, flushing chemicals, biocide), heavy metals, and naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM).

When offshore Produced water solutions fail to deliver and Operators have to search for alternative onshore solutions to deal with significant volumes of contaminated produced water, ASCO's solution is the quickest method of dealing with it with no additional personal on board required.

Waste Projects

Zero Waste to Landfill

ASCO's waste division, as part of a company-wide initiative to become more energy conscious, has set an ambitious target which can help our clients reduce waste production by implementing short and medium-term solutions for the onshore management of offshore waste. To assist in this objective, we have developed the Zero to Landfill solution to divert up to 6,000 tonnes per annum of waste from landfill sites to sustainable facilities in North East Scotland that use advanced technology, such as 'waste to energy'.

Our aim is to help our clients eliminate waste to landfill and provide safe and sustainable solutions in collaboration with the local supply chain in Scotland. This will help to raise awareness of waste management and develop learning opportunities for our customer base to manage waste in line with UK regulatory requirements whist managing resources in a more sustainable way.
